I bought a pair of the polarchromic copper shades and the clarity is stunning. They fit comfortably (I have medium-sized head), and stick better once your face is wet. I've taken them to the summit of two 14,000 foot peaks in Colorado, so they've passed their "operational test" with flying colors.

Balancing style, flexibility, and comfort, the Smith Vector makes a terrific all-around sunglass. The Vector is outfitted with a Grilamid TR-90 frame that serves as the gold standard for active users, with hydrophilic Megol on the nose and temple pads to help ensure a comfortable nonslip fit. The polarized TLT Techlite glass lenses, meanwhile, ensure optical clarity while providing full protection from harmful UV A/B/C rays. Most experts will tell you that glass is the number one material for clarity and scratch resistance, and Smith ups the ante with its TLT Techlite lenses by adding a chemical treatment to increase shatter resistance. Available in a medium fit, the Vector is backed by Smith's legendary lifetime warranty.

Smith Optics Haven Sunglasses Review

[This review is for the Rootbeer Fade frames with Polarchromic Brown lenses.]
I've been using these sunglasses since March of this year, and I've been very happy with them. I have a thinner face, and these glasses fit perfectly. The plastic frames are smooth and comfortable, and the lenses are high quality and provide a clear image. The transitioning lenses have a subtle effect, but I quite like them. I wear these while walking the dog, and we often leave home before the sun rises but are still walking when it's above the mountains and shining in my eyes. We also walk in and out of shadows a lot. With the transitioning lenses, I find it easy to see before the sun fully rises or when we are in shadows because the lenses lighten, and it's comfortable in the sunlight because they darken. I wanted the transitioning brown lenses but wasn't sure if the Rootbeer Fade frames would be too feminine looking - I don't think that they are.
I took one star away because the tight fit of the ear pieces becomes uncomfortable after about an hour of use, and my head begins to hurt. Even after using them for months, I still get this. The tight fit does indeed help them stay on well while being active, and I really enjoy how they feel for the first hour or so. After that, though, I need to take them off for a while. I've worn prescription glasses for many years, so I'm used to having glasses on. This is just a note, as others might not have problems with it.

Smith Optics Serpico Sunglasses Review

Smith Optics Serpico Sunglasses
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I stumbled across the Smith Serpico sunglasses about 5 years ago. I'm on my third pair now -- because I lose them -- and always, always return to these. I love them for a few reasons:
1) There is absolutely NO distortion in these lenses. As cliche as it may sound, I sometimes forget that I'm wearing them. They cover your complete field-of -vision and offer extreme optical clarity.
2) The polarized lenses are top-notch. I've never once noticed the polarizing pattern in the lenses, even in bright reflections. You know it's great when you don't notice it.
3) Smith offers a lifetime warranty on these. You DO need to provide a receipt (made easy through Amazon), but they have a quick turnaround with no hassle. I managed to bend up the first pair I had badly, but Smith replaced them -- no questions asked -- quickly and painlessly.
4) They're extremely comfortable and the bayonet-style temples never poke your ears or head. I wear mine from sun-up to sundown without any discomfort. They fit snugly enough that they won't go flying off your face and stay in position well, even when turning your head abruptly or leaning over. But they're not overly-tight; offering absolutely no discomfort even after 10 hours of wear.
These are some of the best sunglasses available in my opinion. Coupled with a price that's below many of the competitive equivalents and a lifetime warranty, they (continue to) come across as a bargain. If/when I lose this third pair, rest assured the fourth will be on their way.

The sunglass industry's first Toric aviator model, the Smith Serpico will bring out the honest cop in all of us. The Serpico is outfitted with a lightweight wire frame made of optical-grade metal allow, and includes acetate temple tips to give the sunglass a classic appeal. The 9x3 Toric carbonic TLT lenses, meanwhile, are contoured so that light travels through without distortion--a major improvement over many other sunglass models. Carbonic lenses are also the most impact-resistant lenses on the market, with an anti-scratch coating that keeps them looking fresh through the years. Best of all, the Serpico fuses a mid-'70s aviator aesthetic with modern optical clarity, making this the ultimate in high-fashion eyewear. Available with both polarized and non-polarized lenses, the Serpico offers a medium fit with large coverage and carries Smith's legendary lifetime warranty.
