Smith Optics Polarized Fishing Capital Sunglasses Review

Great stylish, functional eye-wear from Smith Optics. And at a wonderful price. This is the second pair of Smith sunglasses I've purchased. This pair is just as high quality as the first pair I purchased, several years ago. The brown tint of the lenses, captures the blue light, giving extra clarity to vision, and the polarization virtually eliminates glare. I also like the special nose pads and pads on the ends of the frames behind your ears. They are a very comfortable fix, and you hardly notice you're wearing them. I know I'll have several years of great service from them.....and the lifetime warranty is just what it says....lifetime. Smith Optics will honor it as long as you own the sunglasses.
Mine came with a nice hard Smith case, with a snap shut fastener, that would have easily cost an extra $20. in a retail store. (I've checked)

Combining Smith's leading lens technologies with a frame that's built to last, the polarized Capital fishing sunglass is a terrific choice for your on-the-water or on-the-town activities. The Capital is outfitted with a Grilamid TR-90 frame that serves as the gold standard for active users, with hydrophilic Megol on the nose and temple pads to help ensure a comfortable nonslip fit. The polarized 8-base TLT Techlite glass lenses, meanwhile, ensure optical clarity while providing full protection from harmful UV A/B/C rays. Most experts will tell you that glass is the number one material for clarity and scratch resistance, and Smith ups the ante with its TLT Techlite lenses by adding a chemical treatment to increase shatter resistance. Most importantly, the Capital's polarized lenses reduce 99.9 percent of reflective glare on the water, helping you see the fish clearly even on bright days. Also equipped with an anti-reflective and hydrophobic lens coating, the medium-/large-fit Capital sunglass carries Smith's legendary lifetime warranty.

Smith Optics Haven Sunglasses Review

[This review is for the Rootbeer Fade frames with Polarchromic Brown lenses.]
I've been using these sunglasses since March of this year, and I've been very happy with them. I have a thinner face, and these glasses fit perfectly. The plastic frames are smooth and comfortable, and the lenses are high quality and provide a clear image. The transitioning lenses have a subtle effect, but I quite like them. I wear these while walking the dog, and we often leave home before the sun rises but are still walking when it's above the mountains and shining in my eyes. We also walk in and out of shadows a lot. With the transitioning lenses, I find it easy to see before the sun fully rises or when we are in shadows because the lenses lighten, and it's comfortable in the sunlight because they darken. I wanted the transitioning brown lenses but wasn't sure if the Rootbeer Fade frames would be too feminine looking - I don't think that they are.
I took one star away because the tight fit of the ear pieces becomes uncomfortable after about an hour of use, and my head begins to hurt. Even after using them for months, I still get this. The tight fit does indeed help them stay on well while being active, and I really enjoy how they feel for the first hour or so. After that, though, I need to take them off for a while. I've worn prescription glasses for many years, so I'm used to having glasses on. This is just a note, as others might not have problems with it.

My wife bought me a pair of these sunglasses for my birthday back in February and I am still very happy with these sunglasses. I have always been the person to buy my sunglasses at a gas station and now I know what I have been missing! The lens quality is superb, whatever coating they put on the lenses I can't even detect even the smallest scratch on them and I have had them for 8-months and never kept them in their supplied carrying pouch (usually in my center console with keys and pens). The build quality of the frames is good and the hinges are very strong. The size of the glasses is perfect and does not allow any stray light around the edges of the frames.

Smith has come up with a decent replacement for the T-Nine that they offered us with large heads. The coverage of these glasses is excellent. The comfort is good but if you're wearing a hat, you may find that the earpieces are more comfortable over the hat. I know it's a great look, but the fish in Canada didn't seem to mind.
Bottom line. Good glasses. Preferred the T-nine.

These are nice sunglasses. However I had to return them because they were too tight for my head. I have 2 pair of Costa del Mars; a pair of Harpoons and a pair of Brines. They both fit me well. These Smiths were much tighter than them. So if you have medium to large head, don't buy these glasses.

We've all tried all kinds of sunglasses. There's something about these though that were better for me. The precision of the lenses, which ?actually helped compensate sl for my nearsightedness? Can't be sure, supposedly magnification neutral, but try these before buying others, especially for around water, the glare reduction is substantial without the fatique of heavy shade. Might not be strong enough for Hawaii. Probably double polarized would be better there. They also fit my face well, and mine's a hard fit.

About Smith OpticsBased in Sun Valley, Idaho, Smith Optics, Inc. was founded in 1965 with the creation of the first-ever goggle featuring a sealed thermal lens and breathable vent foam. In the early years, founder Dr. Bob Smith, an orthodontist by trade, made goggles by hand using dental tools, foam, and glue. Before he struck a deal for manufacturing of Smith goggles in the late 60s, Smith would often trade his creations for lift tickets. These early prototypes were usually manufactured by Smith and friends around the kitchen table.
Building on that goggle heritage and extending its expertise, Smith Sport Optics has gone on to set the standard for high-performance eyewear and goggles. Innovations over the years include the Fog-X anti-fog coating, PMT Perforated Membrane Technology lens ventilation system, patented Turbo C.A.M. Constant Air Management system, patented Regulator adjustable lens ventilation system, patented Roll Off's film advance system for motocross, patented ODS (Ocular Docking System) prescription insert, and patented Slider series sunglasses, the most innovative interchangeable lens sunglass available.
Today, Smith Optics has become synonymous with innovative, durable, top-quality products in the eyewear and goggle market. The company is also recognized for its unparalleled team roster, which boasts some of the top names in biking, motocross, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding, and wakeboarding. Like many other companies, Smith utilizes team input as a key element of new product introductions. In addition, Smith athletes are actively involved in the development process for performance testing and coloration selection.
Smith products are sold worldwide in more than 50 countries through specialty and sporting goods stores. From Smith's distortion-free Tapered Lens Technology to the versatility of the Slider Series, with its patented, interchangeable lens system, its devotion to excellence, innovation and style has made Smith goggles and sunglasses the choice of action-sport athletes worldwide. This is a nice pair of sunglasses, probably the nicest I've owned. You don't pay an arm and a leg for them but they look sharp and feel solid and snug on your face. I would recommend them to a potential buyer.
