(More customer reviews)I bought my first pair of Spy Nolens about 5 years ago in Myrtle Beach, SC. My car was broken into about 2 years later and my sunglasses were stolen. I searched all over my hometown for new ones and couldn't find them in stock anywhere so I settled for a pair of Oakley Hijinx Bruce Irons Edition.
I recently retired my Hijinx after 2+ years of good wear. I was in the market for a new pair of sunglasses and found that Amazon still had the Nolens in stock despite the local claims that they were discontinued.
Needless to say, I ordered a pair in Matte Black with Grey Lenses. I love the Nolens because they are smaller than the Hijinx sunglasses I had before. They are also more sturdy and fit a bit tighter than the Oakleys. They aren't too tight to put pressure on my temples, but they are noticeably more snug right out of the box as compared to the Hijinx right out of the box. I also like the matte black finish as opposed to Oakley's glossy black finish (Oakley does make the Hijinx in matte black, but with a tacky camouflaged "O" on the temples).
The lenses on the Spy glasses seem to be more sturdy and scratch resistant and, although they are grey lenses, give a very soft warming effect when looking through them (everything has a very slight tobacco tint).
Probably my favorite thing about the Nolens is the construction. The plastic is very slightly flexible with METAL hinges. I love glasses with metal hinges because they can be tightened should they ever start to loosen up (as my Oakley and Dragon Optics have done in the past). The design on the temples of the glasses is subtle and doesn't scream the branding out (as Oakley tends to do with their giant "O" on every pair of glasses).
All in all, I rate these glasses a 5 for quality build, good lenses and a superior fit to the glasses in the same class. They are priced right and will outlast even the toughest competitors.
