(More customer reviews)Our Maui's developed a slight crack exactly where the screw was fastened. We returned them for their "2 year warranty," since we only had them a few months. After a couple weeks we got a postcard from "Joan" in the repair dept. telling us that these were discontinued and that we could select another $300 pair for "30% off retail." When we explained that would be more than we paid through the awesome Amazon system, she said we were out of luck! She even trashed Amazon as "discounting discontinued models" when our model was described as a new model on their own website! "What about the warranty?" She said, well, there seem to be other cracks (implying a drop, etc.). In other words, no honoring warranty unless you pay to replace them for MUCH more than you'd pay new on Amazon! IMPORTANT: This review is NOT against any of Amazon's fine vendors, it is about Maui Jim itself. If you want a great brand of sunglasses at half the Maui price, with FAR more honest customer service, and no "phony" warranty, try Oakley's new radar range or other models *NEW* OAKLEY RADAR RANGE Sunglasses l Metallic Red Frame/VR28 Black Iridium Lens. Maui's are cool, but if you encounter any problems, don't count on their warranty to be even close to honorable.

I've owned dozens of pairs costing from $10 to $500, and these, while pretty pricey for something that doesn't have a LV on it, are worth every penny. They weigh almost nothing, look great, and offer unparalleled protection with superb optics. This new frame design also doesn't suffer from my only complaint about my old Ka'anapalis: the fractures around the frame screws. One thing that's minor but may be an issue for some people: these fold but don't fold flat, so storing them can be tough. Luckily they ship with an excellent hard case that protects them completely and isn't too bulky. Honestly, I can't recommend these highly enough to anyone who wants a really great pair of shades.

(More customer reviews)This is my second pair of Maui Jim paradise sunglasses. I purchased the first pair over 5 years ago, and was very happy to see that the paradise were still available. My first pair were perfect for me, and used primarily for driving. With the titanium and nylon frames, they are very light but strong. The lenses resist scratches extremely well, as mine made it over 5 years with very minimal problems.
I did have a lens pop out once due to MY fault, but with the good customer service they were fixed promptly.
I purchased this new pair as I lost my first pair recently. As they appear to be the same, I expect many years of use from these as well.
After I received my new glasses, my first pair was returned to me from the person that had them. Now I have 2!

Secondly (yes, appearance comes before health...) they provide excellent protection to sensitive blue eyes like mine. The lens is wide so that the eye is protected from the side as well as from the front. They are so comfortable, I forget they're on. When I happen to forget them somewhere and need to use other brand name sunglasses I bought before I discovered Maui Jim, the difference is remarkable. Maui Jims are superb sunglasses. The polarized lenses are amazing...especially if you're in Hawaii which is where I was when I got my first pair - these Dawn Patrol sunglasses. I'm a photographer and looking thru a pair of Maui Jim's sunglasses was like looking through my camera with a fine polarized filter on the lens. I could see through the water, the sky was bluer, the green was greener. It was a heightened visual experience. The arms also have springs which make them tougher. You can just feel the quality.
Maui Jim's also come with a warranty. If I end up scratching these puppies, even after a few years, I can get the lenses replaced for $40. I'm thinking these might be my last pair of sunglasses I'll ever need. I actually just bought another pair of Maui Jim's - Pono. I wanted some brown lenses since they tend to make everything look lighter. I might just get rid of all of my other sunglasses and just hold onto these two. This could become an obsession.

Maui Jim Shoreline Sunglasses Review

(More customer reviews)Everything I've ever wanted in a pair of sunglasses with just a bit of extra weight thrown in! I've owned 3 different models of Maui Jim sunglasses now, and have worn a fourth (My wifes) a few times. Of the 4 models, the Shoreline glasses are the closest to perfection for me.
Why 3 of my own models?
My wife first purchased Maui Jims about 10 years ago. The lenses were glass, the frames were stylish, they were heavy. The quality of the lens was evident, but at the time I wasn't interested in an expensive pair of sunglasses. On a boat one afternoon, my wife's heavy pair of Maui's decided to take a swim, and they never came back! Fast forward a few years.....
Being that she loved her glasses, she decided another pair of Maui Jims was in order, so we both purchased sport models. She purchased the Titanium Sports (503-02) and I purchased the Lahaina Stainless Sport model (450-02). About 4 years later both pairs of 'sport' sunglasses were sent in for lens replacement. Hers cracked due to an accident, and mine cracked from normal, everyday use. In fact, we got the glasses back in March of this year. She hasn't worn hers much since the repair, and I've worn mine infrequently being extra careful to prevent another cracked poly lens. Well, the 450-02's are already starting to show hairline cracking where the bridge piece attaches to the lens, and I've been EXTRA careful with them, always storing them in their case when not in use. They are currently on their way to Maui for another, free repair.
In the meantime I decided to purchase the Shorelines, and I'm loving them. They are heavier than the sports, but I'm not afraid to wear them for fear of cracking a lens simply by putting them on and taking them off. The quality of the lens is excellent, and the style fits me perfectly.
There's a good chance that when I get my 450-02's back from repair that I'll be selling them on ebay. Oh, the third pair was a pair of Ho'okipa's. The left lens cracked when I attempted to tighten the screw holding the lens to the plaastic frame as they were loose. Yeah, that one was my fault. I should have sent them in to be tightened!
So there you have it. My history of Maui Jim ownership in far too many words. If these shorelines prove to somehow be fragile I will be moving on to another brand, but in the meantime I'll be looking forward to a lot of sunny days......

Bolle Kickback Sunglasses Review

(More customer reviews)This is my third pair of of the Bolle Kickbacks. The first pair, the lens cracked almost immediately, the second pair I lost after a year and the third pair I lost in a week. They are very nice looking glasses and provide nice sun filtering. Not sure how they would last for the long term. The nosepiece is connected directly to the plastic lens and with repeated flexing it would seem that the lens would be prone to cracking. The first pair I had cracked quickly because I had a neck strap attached which caused additional flexing resulting in the crack. I have to say Bolle has excellent customer service. They replaced the first pair where the lens cracked as well as a different pair that I damaged with no questions asked. I would definitely buy another pair of Bolle sunglasses. I think $80 is a little pricey for these, $50-60 would seem more appropriate. As usual I ordered from Amazon with quick and non-problemmatic service!!!

I dropped by a local SG Hut to compare them to other Lighthouse glasses, and they are identical. This is the real deal for a lot less than you would pay in the mall, or retail store. Definitley recommend. The sunglasses are really light. I use them for long distance running and cycling.
